ROA Rehearsal_1Under the instruction of Willie Stewart, 60 at-risk youngsters from the Lauderdale Lakes Educational Complex’s Smart School Charter Middle and Eagle Charter Academy will be joined by a dozen professional musicians in two unforgettable performances on October 15, 2011 at Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale.

Rhythms of Africa is a musical odyssey that creates a point of inspiration these children who have never played drums before, and leads them into the confidence to perform in a world class production.

The Lauderdale Lakes Educational Complex (LLEC) was created in 2005 with the idea of holding the highest light for educating the children and families of the Lauderdale Lakes/Central Broward community. The community schools of LLEC maintain a culture that promotes preparedness through vision, discipline, empowerment and community service. Founder Edward Miller, CEO TechEdventures, has been managing both charter schools and other community based programs in the Broward community since 1997. TechEdventures first school, Smart School Charter Middle opened in Lauderhill in 1998, continues to be one of the highest performing schools on Broward. Both Smart School Middle and Eagle Charter Academy Middle/High both currently reside on the LLEC campus.
